Healthy, Powerful, Delicious by Robin Miller

Lately I have been receiving numerous questions regarding dishes to create making them healing and delicious. I decided to take this question in steps as everything starts with a foundation, right? I’ll start by giving you a bit of background information that kicked us into stepping up our nutrition.

This past summer I had a health scare that caused me to get on the research train find out exactly what would empower my body to fight the suspected cancer. I researched all foods, herbs, vitamins, you name it, if it was going in my body it was going to be a fighting machine! Although we eat very clean foods, no gmo’s, chemicals, locally sourced, free range, humanely raised, etc., I needed to do better. What I chose to do is NOT a diet. No one told me I could or could not have a food, drink, etc. I chose return to the way I used to eat before marriages and children complicated things. (NO Regrets!) It was an easy switch.

Question #1 was: How do you create a dish that is healthy, powerful and delicious? Let’s look at one of our favorite things to create and that is a salad. It couldn’t be a simple salad, no, it had to be a powerhouse filled with healing deliciousness! My philosophy is “Make every bite count.” Building a salad is like building a house. You have to start with the foundation.

For the foundation, I had several choices each day but I needed the most powerful of proteins that would be both cancer inhibiting and cancer combative should there be cancer anywhere in my body. I chose most often, Wild Planet Albacore Tuna as my foundation. I would also add a chopped hard boiled egg for extra protein as having a tendency to be anemic needed to be addressed as well. I don’t like eating unattractive meals so the next step was COLOR . With adding color, it couldn’t just be any color combo, it had to have a healing purpose. Below is a list of what I chose to add to my tuna and egg salad.: veggies, spices, herbs, fruit.

Disclaimer: This is my research and what I chose to use in my fight against cancer. I do not claim that these foods are a cure for cancer or that they will work for your personal fight. Although I did not, you should consult with your physician or an expert in nutrition to find what works for you.
